Introducing Syneron’s elure™ Advanced Skin Lightening, a Novel Topical Cosmetic.

For approximately 50 years, the topical application of hydroquinone or other products that disrupt the production or deposition of melanin have been the mainstay of treating unwanted pigmentation. But these products have typically required 3 months or more of faithful daily use to see significant benefit, and they have also exposed patients to undesirable skin irritation. Now, there is finally a new option that is being brought by Syneron and our partners to healthcare professionals and their customers throughout most major markets.
Syneron’s elure Advanced Skin Lightening products are based on a patented natural enzyme that temporarily reduces melanin in the skin to provide a brighter and more even skin appearance. Because elure directly targets and breaks down melanin, most patients see significant benefit in just one month. And because elure’s effect is based on a targeted enzymatic action, tolerability is exceptional.
Lignin peroxidase (LiP), trademarked Melanozyme™ by Syneron, is the only active ingredient in elure. There is no hydroquinone or other existing active ingredient in elure, allowing the formulation of elure to consist of readily available formulation ingredients that promote the health of skin and that support the enzyme. Three open-label clinical trials and one double-blind, split-face controlled study in subjects with Fitzpatrick Skin Type 2-4 have confirmed the tolerability and efficacy of elure. The safety of elure is another remarkable feature of this product. In safety studies, the LiP enzyme was tested at levels 17,000 times our recommended dose without any observation of adverse events.
The enzyme lignin peroxidase (LiP) was first identified in 1984, and has been researched for many years as a potential agent to breakdown lignin to whiten wood pulp in paper production. It was later found to break down melanin by Syneron’s affiliate company, Rakuto Biotechnologies (RBT). RBT also discovered how to effectively manufacture LiP in commercial scale, and patented this production technique and the use of LiP in lightening skin. The LiP active ingredient is produced by fermentation of the tree fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium and then purified into a highly concentrated serum by Lonza of Switzerland, a leading pharmaceutical bulk manufacturer. The final formulation and packaging of elure is performed by SCC Innovasia, a GMP manufacturing facility under a contract agreement with our company.
Syneron is thrilled to bring this novel innovation to benefit patients around the world. We currently offer three products: elure Advanced Facial Wash, elure Advanced Lotion, and elure Advanced Night Cream. Our products are only sold to medical aesthetic professionals and are offered as an excellent addition to our expanding and highly differentiated professional aesthetic brands.
